240 Teams Registered By August 2nd Deadline!

We are very excited to announce that there are 240 teams officially registered for the 2010 Fantasy Football Players Championship!

That is an increase of 55% year-to-year for our early entries. Out of those 240, only 13 have not yet paid so we will be drawing 227 draft positions this weekend.

Dave, Chris and I (Alex) want to thank all of you that have entered the FFPC Main Event! It has been a banner year so far. The 2010 FFPC Main Event prize structure is based on 288 teams. If we finish at 300 teams or more, prizes will be increased.

Let’s keep the momentum going all the way to September!

FFPC Main Event Early Draft Slots Announcement!

Teams which are registered with full payment by Monday, August 2nd 2010 will receive their Main Event draft spot by the following weekend of August 7-8th.

FFPC Main Event Registration

2010 FFPC League Commissioner

We are very excited to present the league commissioner product which will be powering the FFPC going forward, starting in 2010. It took some time to finalize this partnership as we wanted to make sure the FFPC was in the right hands and most importantly, to be sure our players were happy with the decision. And I think you will be.

The new league commissioner product for the FFPC is: RealTime Fantasy Sports.

RTSports is heading into its 16th year of providing top notch commissioner services. The have a record of proven reliability, as many of us are familiar with their software.

When we first contacted the guys at RTSports, we immediately voiced the concerns that HSFF players have had with the specific area of their product in the past: the blind bidding interface. We expressed that the FFPC players must have the flexibility of a blind bidding system which allows them to implement various bidding strategies which are so important in HSFF team management. Tim and Mark from RTSports understood this clearly and have committed to build a brand new blind bidding interface for the FFPC which will allow for multiple bidding groups. This new interface will also allow FFPC owners to prioritize bids by order and not by bid amount. In addition, as the FFPC has done in 2008 & 2009, all bids will be made public after the conclusion of the weekly blind bidding run, which allows for maximum transparency.

In addition to the new blind bidding interface, RTSports has agreed to build a Victory Points standings program for the FFPC, which they have not offered previously. RTSports will allow VPs to be an exclusive feature of the FFPC and will not offer VPs to any other HSFF contest it hosts. In turn, Victory Points will be made available as a new feature for individual commissioned leagues purchased from RTSports.

Our next major area of concern was online live drafting software. This is an area that RTSports excels in as their draft room is easy to use and dependable. RTSports also provides live-commissioned drafts as an option, which was another important point for us.

Overall, with RTSports, FFPC will have the ability to continue offering the entire line of our leagues and contests in the same format that we have offered them in the past. RTSports are committed to helping us make a seamless transition to their commissioner product and we are committed making sure FFPC players are completely satisfied with this new platform.

FORMING: another $750 FFPC Dynasty League

Our original plan was to fill one $750 league and one $1250 league this year. Now that both are full and there is strong interest in the Dynasty format, we will make another $750 Dynasty League available in 2010.

Registration is here - no immediate payment is required. Rules and further details can be found here.

For further details, please see the FFPC message boards.

BREAKING: FFPC partners with Footballguys.com

Footballguys, FFPC Finalize $50,000 Online Fantasy Tournament

The grand prize will be announced at an entry level of 600 teams. Once the 600-team level has been reached, the FPC will raise prizes across the board in a progressive fashion and will continue to increase prizes with added entries without limitation. Other unique prizes include three-year and lifetime Footballguys.com subscriptions. Complete rules, prize information and registration can be found here.

The entire FPC prize pool will be secured and held in an attorney escrow account for the duration of the tournament.

“We feel now is the time for Footballguys to enter the tournament arena, and we want to make sure our customers have a trusted place to play fantasy football,” said Joe Bryant, co-owner of Footballguys.com.

At an entry fee of $350 per team, the FPC is a priced at a premium to most local leagues but is a relative bargain compared to high entry fee national tournaments with large grand prizes.

“We feel this type of tournament is the perfect bridge between local league players and the high stakes fantasy football world,” said Dave Gerczak, co-owner of the FFPC. “The Footballguys Players Championship will appeal to players that want to play for sizable league prizes and still take a shot at the big grand prize without breaking the bank.”

One of the most interesting facets to the Footballguys Players Championship is the “progressive” nature of the prize structure. Every additional league over 50 leagues will increase the FPC grand prize and the overall FPC prize structure.

“We wanted to make sure that players are justly rewarded for placing not just first, but all the way down to the top 10 percent of overall finishers,” said Alex Kaganovksy, the other co-owner of the FFPC.

The FPC will have a progressive ticker on myffpc.com that will provide up-to-the-minute Grand Prize updates once the 50-league level has been exceeded. All league drafts will take place online, with drafts running from August 1 right up until September 8.

“The FPC decided to offer all players the opportunity to draft when they want, at times that they want,” said the other Footballguys.com co-owner David Dodds. “You can play the FPC early in preseason, mid-August or right before the season starts.”

The FPC offers an interesting, yet easy-to-understand, combination of rules and scoring, including the unique dual flex starting lineup option.

“The dual flex gives fantasy players more options in terms of draft strategy and weekly team management decisions, which will make for a better contest,” Gerczak said. “For example, an owner could start four running backs one week and three tight ends the next. Since we are scoring one and a half points per reception for tight ends (all others one PPR), starting two tight ends truly becomes a viable option in this format.”

The FPC offers a four-team playoff format, with the top two seeds automatically qualifying for the championship round and a shot at the FPC Grand Prize. The Footballguys Players Championship offers other player-friendly rules, including automatic Elias stat changes, extended waiver period for playoff teams, as well as action scoring for all touchdowns, which adds value to multi-faceted players like New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush.

Whats new for 2010?

- FFPC Main Event Grand Prize is being increased from $75,000 to $100,000 in 2010.

As a national contest, the $100,000 Grand Prize will help market the FFPC to new high stakes players and help grow the contest. And the best part is: one of you WILL win this money. Don Metter and Chad Schroeder may have never expected to win $75,000 in 2008 and 2009, but they certainly did!

- FFPC Main Event League prizes increase from $8,000 to $8,500 per league. Seed #1 and Seed #2 awards also increased.

With the additional $500, the League Prize have been slightly adjusted and will be as follows:

League Regular Season Prizes (Weeks 1-11):

Team with the best H2H record - $1,500
Remaining team with the most regular season points - $1,500

    League Playoff Prizes (Weeks 12-13):

1st Place - $3,500
2nd Place - $1,500
3rd Place - $500

Now that the Grand Prize is at $100,000, we will look to further add prize money to the League Prizes as we continue to grow. If we exceed our projected entries for 2010, we could go to even higher league prizes as soon as this year.

- FFPC Main Event entry fee is increased from $1400 to $1450 per team.

This is a reasonable 3.5% growth considering the increase to the Grand Prize and League Prizes.

- FFPC ‘Varsity’ Tournament

The Varsity is a 36-team tournament to be drafted live, in Las Vegas (limited online entries also available). Entry fee is $3,000 per team. Varsity format is a 13 week regular season using total points only. There is no head-to-head. The highest scoring teams will win. Four teams from each league make the Championship round in weeks 14-16 using total points. The highest scoring team wins the Varsity and $20,000 as well as a custom FFPC TitleCraft trophy as Varsity champion. Payout percentage for this contest is at 90%!! Complete details on the Varsity Tournament are available here.

- FFPC ‘Junior’ Online Tournament

FFPC Junior is basically and exact replication of the popular FFPC Main Event, except with a lower price point of $350 per team. FFPC Jr is announced at 180 teams. All drafts will be held Online. The regular season will run from NFL Week 1 through NFL Week 11 and results will be based on head-to-head matchups as well as total points scored. The 2 top seeded teams at the end of the regular season in each league will each be awarded a $350 Regular Season prize and earn an automatic berth to the Championship Round in NFL Weeks 14 through 16 and a chance at $10,000 Grand Prize. The 4 top seeded teams at the end of the regular season will play in a Head-to-Head League Playoffs in NFL Weeks 12 & 13 to determine the League Champion.
